Stadi. Architettura e mito
19 May 2025The exhibition Ghitta Carell. Portraits of the Twentieth Century, promoted by FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano and curated by Roberto Dulio, focuses on the production and activity of Ghitta Carell (1899-1972), the most famous portrait photographer in Italy between the two World Wars.
Fondazione Cirulli participates in the exhibition with the loan of the portrait of Edda Ciano, Benito Mussolini’s firstborn.
Her work smooths out an expressive synthesis, in a captivating dialectic, between avant-gardes and tradition that marked the artistic debate of the fascist era. The most famous Italian personalities – or those aspiring to fame – of the 1930s follow one another in the studio in Piazza del Popolo 3 in Rome, where Ghitta Carell moved after her debut in Florence.
